Department Functions:

The mission of Georgetown County Parks and Recreation is to enhance the quality of life for Georgetown County residents and visitors; to promote a strong sense of community by providing a broad, diverse and challenging set of cultural and recreational programs; and to offer clean, beautiful and safe parks.

Parks and Recreation provides access to 23 boat landings, a 2,800-foot fishing and observation pier, 74 beach access areas from Garden City to Litchfield, and 40 public parks comprising 378 acres.

The Department manages and maintains 26 baseball fields, three football fields, one soccer field, six multi-purpose fields, 17 playgrounds, 10 tennis courts, 16 picnic areas, two volleyball courts, 13 outdoor basketball courts, 10 community/senior centers and four gymnasiums.

We continue to strive to offer a greater variety and number of classes at all of our recreation centers, and are currently seeking instructors. Share your unique talent with others.
