Frequently Asked Questions: | Q: What type of programs do you have for older adults?

A: Please click on the following link: Georgetown County Beach Regulations
Q: What is Bike the Neck?
A: A grass roots citizen group began meeting in February 1994 to develop a master plan for a multipurpose path on the Waccamaw Neck in Georgetown County, South Carolina. Within a year, it was unanimously approved by the Georgetown County Planning Commission and the County Council. Twelve miles of pathways have been constructed in Murrells Inlet (bike lanes), across the highway frontage of Huntington Beach State Park (bike paths), through North Litchfield (currently "share the road" with plans underway for a bike path), across Litchfield-by-the-Sea frontage and across Highway 17 on Willbrook Blvd. (bike paths). The next section to be constructed is Kings River Road to Waverly Road and Waccamaw Elementary School (bike paths) which will link to the completed section along Highway 17 between the North and South Causeways in Pawleys Island. The vision is to eventually connect the fishing village of Murrells Inlet to historical Georgetown with approximately 17 miles of hard-surfaced pathways paralleling the north-south corridor of Highway 17. Most of the 8-foot wide path will be buffered from the cars by a minimum of five feet and provide safe bicycling, walking, jogging, and rollerblading routes, connecting all the major residential communities with all the major commercial and recreational areas on the Waccamaw Neck. Bike the Neck continues to promote path development, raise matching funds for state and federal grants and encourage bicycle and pedestrian safety.
