A. LANE CRIBB - SHERIFF OF GEORGETOWN COUNTY

In 1987, A. Lane Cribb began as an investigator in Georgetown County. He was first elected Georgetown County Sheriff in 1992. He is now serving his third term in office.

In July 1973, Sheriff Cribb began his career in law enforcement as an investigator with the S.C. Alcohol Beverage Control Commission. He remained in this position for six years. In 1979, Sheriff Cribb began working as an investigator with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

While in office, Sheriff Cribb has implemented the Community Oriented Police Officers, School Resource Officers, and programs to rid our neighborhoods of illegal narcotics.

Sheriff Cribb attended Horry Georgetown Technical College where he received a degree in Business Administration. Currently, enrolled at the University of Alabama, Sheriff Cribb seeks a Bachelor’s degree in Administrative Science. He is a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and Carolina Command College administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Sheriff Cribb is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association and the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association where he is on the board of directors.

Kenneth M. Johnson - Coroner

Elected in 1996, Kenneth M. Johnson is a registered medicolegal death investigator with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. He has completed over 1200 hours of training as a medicolegal death investigator. He has a criminal justice degree. Between 1987-1997, Mr. Johnson served as a Lieutenant in the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and between 1982-1986 served as a Senior Police Officer.

Active in the community, Mr. Johnson is a member in the American College of Forensic Examiners Int., the Salvation Army, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, and serves as President of the South Carolina Corners Association. He is a member of SC County-wide elected executives, Diplomat with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators Int., SC Coroner’s Assoc. He is a Certified Medical Investigator Level - III with the American College of Forensic Examiners Int. He is a member of Character First of Georgetown and is an active member of Screven Baptist Church.
