Waldo A. Maring - Probate Judge

Elected as Georgetown County Probate Judge on November 4, 1980, Waldo A. Maring is currently serving his seventh term. Judge Maring graduated from Columbia Commercial College in 1971 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He has also earned in excess of three hundred and fifty (350) Judicial Continuing Legal Education hours during his twenty-five (25) years of services. Before his election, he was manager of Maring Oil Company, Inc., of Andrews, South Carolina
Judge Maring served on the Andrews Town Council in 1976 and as Mayor Pro-temp from 1978-1981. Judge Maring is a member of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges, the National College of Probate Judges, and the American Judges Association. He served as President of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges in 1987-1988. Judge Maring served on the faculty for New Probate Judges Training in 1993, 1995 and 2005. Chief Justices Gregory Harwell and Acting Chief Justice Toal appointed Judge Maring to the South Carolina Judicial Council where he served from 1992-2000. Appointed to the South Carolina Court Administration’s Probate Judges Advisory Committee, he served from 1983-1990. Reappointed in 2004, he currently serves as Chairman.
Judge Maring is married to the former Teresa Collins Gaskins and has three daughters and a stepson. A native of Andrews, he now resides in Murrells Inlet.

Alma Y. White - Clerk of Court

Alma Y. White began her tenure as Clerk of Court January 2001. Previously employed as a public school teacher for almost 21 years, Ms. White attended Howard High School, and graduated from Winyah High School in 1971. She graduated from Claflin College (Orangeburg, SC) in 1975 and later completed her graduate studies at Coastal Carolina University (Conway) and the University of South Carolina (Columbia).
While for Georgetown County School District, Ms. White served as a member of Georgetown City Council from 1990 to 2000. During the six years, she served as Mayor Pro Tem.
