EMERGENCY SHELTER LOCATIONS

    Red Cross Emergency Shelters:

  • Pleasant Hill Elementary School, 127 School House Drive (Hwy 513)
  • Andrews Elementary School, 13072 County Line Road (Hwy 41)

EMERGENCY SHELTER SUPPLIES

While emergency shelters provide a safe place to stay & minimal food, specialty items for infants and individuals on restricted diets may not be available. It may take several days until permission is given by local authorities to re-enter an evacuated area.

    Bring these items with you to a shelter:
  • First aid kit
  • Prescription medications (for a week)
  • Baby food and diapers (for a week)
  • Cards
  • Games
  • Books
  • Toiletries (for a week)
  • Battery-powered radio and extra batteries
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Blankets or sleeping bags
  • Identification and valuable papers (copies of insurance papers, passports, and other essential documents)

EMERGENCY SHELTER TRANSPORTATION

Transportation to an emergency shelter will be provided on a limited basis if you have no other means to get to a shelter. Call the Emergency Management Department for information on when transportation will become available.

    Pick-up points are:
    Food Lion - Hwy 707 & Hwy 17, Murrells Inlet

    Waccamaw Middle School - Sandy Island Road, Pawleys Island

    Waccamaw Elementary School - Waverly Road, Pawleys Island

    St. Mary´s AME Church - Hwy 17, Pawleys Island

    Old Wal-Mart - North Fraser Street, Georgetown

    Food Lion - Hwy 17S in Maryville, Georgetown

    St. Stephen AME Church - 1915 Winyah Street, Georgetown
