A. Lane Cribb - Sheriff 

Sheriff A. Lane Cribb started his career in law enforcement with S.C. Alcohol Beverage Control as an investigator in 1973. He then worked as a criminal investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office until he returned home to work as an investigator with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. He was first elected Georgetown County Sheriff in 1992 and has been re-elected for every term since.

Sheriff Cribb attended Horry-Georgetown Technical College, Limestone College and the University of Alabama. He has a bachelors degree in business administration. He is also a graduate of Carolina Command College, the National Center for Rural Law Enforcement, the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and numerous other law enforcement training schools.

He is a member of the National Sheriff's Association, South Carolina Sheriff's Association, Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge. He is also a past president of the North Carolina/South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer's Association and South Carolina Sheriff's Association.


Kenneth M. Johnson – Coroner

First elected in 1996, Kenneth M. Johnson is a registered medicolegal death investigator with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators. He has completed over 1,200 hours of training as a medicolegal death investigator. He also has a criminal justice degree. Between 1987-1997, Mr. Johnson served as a lieutenant with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and between 1982-1986 served as a senior police officer.

Active in the community, Mr. Johnson is a member in the American College of Forensic Examiners Int., the Salvation Army, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, and serves as President of the South Carolina Coroners Association. He is a member of S.C. countywide elected executives, diplomat with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators Int. and S.C. Coroner’s Assoc. He is a Certified Medical Investigator Level III with the American College of Forensic Examiners Int. He is a member of Character First of Georgetown and is an active member of Screven Baptist Church.
