Terminal Building Project
On September 11, 2007 County Council approved proceeding with negotiation of a construction contract with Coastal Structures for the approximately 8,500 square foot, $2.1 million dollar terminal facility to be constructed at the Georgetown County Airport. The contract is to be presented to Council on September 25, 2007. 
Terminal Groundbreaking Held
On Monday December 17, 2007 County Council, a vareity of dignitaries and airport supporters gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Georgetown County Airport Terminal facility.
Cool temperatures were not enough to hinder the excitement of this anxiously awaited celebration. Participants witnessed not only a groundbreaking but also the beginning of demolition of the old terminal which began just after the first shovels of dirt were turned for the new building.

THOMAS W. EDWARDS, JR AIRPORT TERMINAL OPENED
On Friday January 9, 2009 County Council, a vareity of dignitaries and airport supporters gathered to celebrate the opening of the Thomas W. Edwards, Jr. Airport Terminal facility.
This modern two story structure was named in honor of retired county administrator Thomas W. Edwards, Jr, in celebration of his tireless work and efforts towards development of the county's master planning program.
