Georgetown Airport (GGE)

The Georgetown Airport is a general aviation airport owned and operated by Georgetown County. There are currently 59 aircraft permanently based at our airport. Approximately 80 aircraft operations occur per day, totaling approximately 29,200 operations per year. There are 41 T-hangars leased to aircraft owners and a corporate hangar. The airport provides an ultralight/light sport aircraft sales and a flight training center. The airport is serviced by Seven Rivers Aviation, a full-service aircraft maintenance, flight training and aircraft fueling center, providing avgas and jet fuel.

There are two active runways at the Georgetown Airport: 5-23 is a 6,001-foot by 100-foot asphalt-surfaced runway, while 11-29 is 4,539 feet by 150 feet, also asphalt surfaced. Ample overnight parking, with tie-downs, is provided by the FBO (Fixed Base Operator). Inside aircraft storage and parking on an overnight or short term may be available; inquire at the FBO.

Andrews Airport (PHH)

The Andrews Airport is owned by Georgetown County and located 13 nautical miles to the southwest of the City of Georgetown. The airport has a single lighted runway. The runway, 18-36, is asphalt surfaced and measures 3,001 feet by 60 feet. The airport does not have an attendant on duty. Self-service avgas is available.

Economic Impact

Georgetown County’s airports generate $11,937,950 million in direct economic output. Of that, $509,640 is paid to 15 full-time employees. Additionally, 10,230 general aviation visitors arrive at the airport each year, generating another $1,513,800 in direct aviation output. According to statistics provided by the S.C. Division of Aeronautics, tenants and visitors at Georgetown County airports generate $19.5 million in total economic output. Of this funding, $1.2 million provides payroll to 47 full-time ancillary jobs.

Thomas W. Edwards Jr. Terminal Building

The Thomas W. Edwards Jr. Terminal building at the Georgetown Airport opened in January 2009 and is 8,500 square feet. A two-story structure built in the Lowcountry style, it includes an FBO operations area, offices and meeting rooms open to the traveling public and civic groups from the Georgetown County area. Additionally, space is available for other vendors such as rental car agents and/or a gift shop. The terminal is also where the Georgetown County Airport Commission’s monthly meetings take place. There are flight planning and rest areas for pilots waiting for passengers. Construction of the facility was provided by the FAA, the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission and Georgetown County.

Corporate Hangar:

The Georgetown Airport's two corporate hangars was designed to provide space for five larger corporate aircraft and measures 100 feet by 120 feet. The Schweiss bi-fold door allows for a 90-foot opening with a 26-foot height for clearance of larger aircraft. The funding for these projects was provided by Georgetown County, with assistance for apron and taxiway paving from the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission.
