Department Functions:

The Bureau of Aging Services offers programs, activities and supportive services that will enable senior residents of Georgetown County to continue being an integral part of their community, while keeping their dignity and sense of well being. There are currently six senior centers in the County. Come and join other seniors for computer classes and other training opportunities, socialization, trips and tours, special events, health screening and more.

Programs: Home Delivered Meals available throughout Georgetown County; Group Dining Meals in six senior centers; Homecare Service for those in need of housekeeping and personal care; Health Promotion Activities with fitness equipment at each senior center; Transportation Service for center activities, shopping and field trips; Medical transportation is also available to assist residents in accessing their medical and pharmacy needs.

2008 Spring/Summer Brochure

Sewing Classes!
The Bureau of Aging Services, a division of the Georgetown County Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department will be sponsoring a sewing class for the months of May, June, July and August. All ages are welcome and there is no charge for the class! The classes will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The instructor is the reigning Ms. Georgetown Senior, Mrs. Mildred Point, who at 95 years of age, is still a vital and active member of our community. The classes will be held at the Georgetown Senior Center at 2104 Lincoln Street in the City of Georgetown. Please call Betty Shubrick, Site Manager, at 546-9410 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities: The senior center offers many volunteer opportunities. Whether you’re interested in teaching classes, sharing a special hobby, serving on a board or committee, helping with the newsletter, planning activities or coordinating special events, your help is always needed.
