Georgetown County Government Mission Statement

The Mission of Georgetown County Government is to promote the health, safety, knowledge and welfare of citizens:

  • Specifically, to protect continually our unique environment by managing our open spaces, rivers, beaches, ecological areas and natural resources in a manner consistent with the community’s values and priorities;
  • To appreciate diversity and to strive to foster an atmosphere of thoughtfulness, fairness, tolerance and understanding;
  • To encourage and support the needs of our local businesses while striving for equitable economic development.

This mission is best accomplished by an open and responsive government; by encouraging citizens’ input and involvement; by responsive planning for the future with a balanced distribution of services; by preserving the County’s fiscal stability; by producing effective and efficient government programs through careful management of the County’s resources; by being committed to the growth and welfare of County employees; by encouraging the development of creative ideas and solutions; and by representing citizens’ needs and desires to the fullest extent possible.
