Providing administrative assistance to the County Central Safety Committee, the Risk Management Division provides safety awareness to all county departments. The risk manager conducts facility safety inspections assuring OSHA compliance, maintains an accident data base, and monitors sick leave, as well as family and medical leave usage. The risk manager also administers the county’s alcohol and drug screening program. A liaison between employees, the legal staff and the Workers Compensation insurance carrier, the risk manager assists in the claims process. The division also maintains a County Safety Library of reference materials.

Q: If injured on the job, what actions should I take?
A: Report the accident/injury to your supervisor immediately. He or she will direct you to the appropriate medical facility. (In the event of a life threatening emergency, dial 911 and take appropriate action.) A "First Report of Injury" must be completed by your supervisor and delivered to the risk manager within 24 hours of the injury.
Q: If I am injured on the job, how do I file a Worker’s Compensation Claim?
A: Contact the risk manager by calling or visiting the Risk Management office to file the necessary forms. The office is located at 129 Screven Street, Georgetown.
