Job Function:
FUNCTION
Leads the daily operations of the Collections Crew Truck Drivers and its functions to insure the collections crew meets daily and weekly assigned tasks effectively and efficiently. Also operates a roll off truck, boom truck and/or dump truck for the purpose of collection of solid waste, recyclables, yard waste and tires from the County recycling centers to the landfill complex. Must be able to focus team activity, define roles and communicate both in writing and verbally. Communicates with manager, supervisor, employees, vehicle maintenance personnel, and customers to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction. Reports to the Collections Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM JOB FUNCTION
Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment as necessary for the proper transportation of solid waste and recyclables form the County Recycling Centers to the county landfill complex. Also responsible for daily crew check in meetings, morning dispatch, and ensuring the collections crew is adequately checking and maintaining equipment as needed. Ensuring that all crew members are completing assigned tasks and re-assigning tasks as needed throughout the shift. Ensuring that trip reports and documentation are completed. Ensuring that collection staff adheres to safety policies and procedures. Maintaining close communication with Collections supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, other drivers, Convenience Center attendants, and Environmental Services Manager, as needed. Duties include: engaging and disengaging roll off containers with hydraulic hoist, maneuvering safely in tight quarters at recycling centers and the landfill working face, providing safe highway driving procedures, maintaining records of operations where necessary, maintaining equipment and reporting necessary repairs, training new staff in safe standard operating procedures.

Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds constantly to move objects able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.

Training:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent with 5 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of heavy trucks and/or equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid class B CDL S.C. driver’s license and provide proof of a safe driving record for the past 3 years.
