Department Functions:

The Clerk to Council prepares the agenda for County Council meetings; records and transcribes minutes of council meetings; processes ordinances, resolutions, and proclamations; is the custodian of the County seal; maintains minute books and County Code of Ordinances; attests and certifies official documents on behalf of the County; prepares advertisements of public hearings, meetings and legal notices; and performs all duties as required by State Code and local ordinances.

County Council Regular Meeting Schedule, 2017:

Georgetown County Council will hold regular meetings on the following dates in 2017. Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in County Council Chambers, located at 129 Screven Street (historic County Courthouse), Georgetown, S.C. All meetings are open and the public is invited to attend.
* Denotes months during which County Council customarily holds only one meeting. Additional meetings may be called if needed.

Q: When and where does County Council meet?
A: County Council holds regular meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. ( with a few exceptions as outlined in the meeting schedule above). Meetings are held in County Council Chambers which is located on the second floor of the old Georgetown County Courthouse. Deviations from the regular meeting schedule are announced in the local media and on this website. All meetings are open to the public.
