Take a Kid Fishing Day will return to 8 Oaks Park in Georgetown on Saturday, May 14. The event opens at 8 a.m. for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and for everyone else at 9 a.m.
Hosted by Georgetown County Parks and Recreation and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, Take a Kid Fishing events are intended to help kids develop a passion for fishing and the outdoors. Staff have stocked the pond at the park, so there should be plenty of fish biting that day.
Kids of all ages are welcome to attend accompanied by an adult. Staff and volunteers will also be on hand to help out and offer tips for those who are new to fishing.
The Southern Anglers Radio Show will also be broadcasting live from the park that morning.
